Moved from the Brooklyn accommodation onto the "One train" and up to 635, 137th St.Nicholas Avenue, Upper Manhattan, the heart of Harlem. Up a lift and the 6th Floor where a room awaited with a single bed and a bathroom with table and chair. The 'artistic' flat had four bedrooms, a communal bathroom, a dining room, lounge and a kitchen area. Already, I have provisionally booked this abode for next June/July 2016!!

The Clash played at the Palladium, NYC on the 21st September 1979 and Paul Simonon smashed his bass guitar - East 14th Street between Irving Place and Third Avenue -

The building is now called "TRADER JOE'S WINE SHOP"  (2015)

William S.Burroughs and Joe Strummer (1980) in The Bunker - Burroughs apartment affectionately dubbed 'The Bunker' was on the Lower East Side of Manhattan at 222 Bowery. The dwelling was partially converted YMCA gym, complete with lockers and communal showers. The building fell within New York City rent control policies that made it extremely cheap; it was only about four hundred dollars a month until 1981 when the rent control rules changed, doubling the rent overnight...

Mona's bar - 224 Avenue B, New York, NY 10009 - Relaxed brick-walled bar with a pool table, Skee-ball and Juke box plus frequent live music.

Joe Strummer drank in the Mona's bar on Avenue B right off 14th street. It was his spot when in town back before Niagara's opened on Avenue A off Tomkins which is where all the after show parties ended up...
